This prospective multicentre trial of 300 men was led by Professor Michael Hofman from Peter Mac, with Professor Declan Murphy as senior author. In brief, we demonstrated that PSMA PET/CT was significantly more accurate when compared with conventional scans, and had additional benefits of less radiation for patients, less uncertain results, and more impact in helping clinicians advise patients about best treatment options. This is a practice-changing paper which has received much attention around the world. those with low-grade cancers, at low risk of progressing beyond the prostate. The key principle of active surveillance is that if men with suitable prostate cancer are managed with surveillance rather than treatment, that the likelihood of their cancer becoming more aggressive and progressing beyond the prostate, is very low indeed. Also, if the cancer does become more aggressive while on surveillance, subsequent treatment such as surgery or radiotherapy is very successful. We use the “waiting room” feature and Professor Murphy’s personal meeting ID and password to maximise security and convenience for our patients. Zoom has many advantages including: · Many people are familiar with Zoom already · No account is required; simply click on the link in the email · Images and videos can be shared during Zoom consultations We are also happy to just have a telephone chat rather than a videochat using Zoom. However, Zoom is somewhat more personable and closer to a traditional consultation so many prefer this option. Plus, it means that family members can also join the Zoom call from wherever they may be.
